Teacher Specification for Body Principles Pilates Studio
1) A fully qualified comprehensive teacher with experience in remedial Pilates (Wednesdays and Saturdays plus adhoc interim work).
2) A fully qualified matwork teacher with experience in remedial Pilates to take over Tuesday evening matwork classes.
Ideally we are looking for a teacher who will be pleasant and engaging with clients with a fully rounded approach in teaching, adaptable to the requirements of the individual. Enabling clients to progress at a pace and level suitable to them is essential. Patience and a keen interest in the functioning of the human body will also be of value.
The teacher must feel comfortable working on their own. Fran, the studio owner, is in regular contact with clients and teachers and very willing to support and guide when required (find out more about Fran here: https://www.bodyprinciples.co.uk/about-us/ )
Our studio: We are a small, friendly studio set in a large room within the Sheen Physiotherapy and Sports Injuries clinic and are in our 11th year. 80 % of our work is 1:1 with some 1:2 classes and 6 group matwork classes (maximum 6 clients) per week. The room is a lovely, bright setting with French doors opening up onto a garden and hence plenty of natural light and fresh air.
Although it is a busy clinic and studio, the teaching schedules mean there is not much crossover between teachers on a daily basis. We have a yearly, social get together and are introducing teacher workshops. Other services available at the clinic besides physiotherapy also include counselling, nutrition and hypnotherapy.
Our clients: The age range for clients is mainly end of 30s to early 80s with some children and adolescents. A number of our clients require ongoing remedial type work due to hip, knee and spinal conditions (some straightforward, some unusual). Some clients come to us post operatively and we work in conjunction with the physiotherapy team to help in the rehabilitation process. Others would like maintenance and fun. Naturally we also have those individuals who are healthy and well and enjoy to move…and some of these are at advanced level and eager to work.
If you are interested in teaching the how and why of movement and not just the doing, then this is the studio for you! Our clients are eager to learn and improve.
Saturdays: A minimum of 2 Saturdays per month required 9am to 3pm, starting as of 01 April 2020. Combination of 1:1, 1:2 and 1 x matwork class (Intermediate/Advanced).
Wednesdays: 9.30am to 2.30pm (5 x 1:1s) commitment required: weekly. Cover required from 01 April to 16 December 2020 (inclusive) with the possibility of taking over full time. To be reviewed in December. Start date: 01 April 2020.
Tuesday evenings: 2 x matwork classes at 6.30pm (Beginner/Remedial) and 7.30pm (Intermediate/Advanced) with possibility of extending the shift to offer 1:1 classes if of interest to a teacher with comprehensive qualification. Commitment required: weekly. start date 07 April 2020.
NB: If the above are of interest but start dates do not work, please mention when getting in touch. It is most important to find the right fit for our team and hence start dates may be adjusted.
